Several of them even planned around my vacation so they could avoid dealing with my office. Last year my clients freaked when they heard I was going away. So I'm still working as I do all my emails, and talk to my clients and drivers. I do keep my cell on at all times, so I can try to make myself available for my clients and the owners. So if I take that week off, there is very little to no issues with me being away. So what I did, is that I found a single week in the year that is deader then dead for my position (took me 3yrs to find it).

The biggest downer about my job, is that they cannot really afford me to take vacation time. Only twice I've charged while at home as I spent hours dealing with BS.Īs the owners know I don't charge for a lot of petty time, they pay me for all non-paid holidays, or forced days off. Most times it's just a quick call or a quick Google maps search and the issue is resolved. I only ask for at home payment, if it is a lot of work I have to do. They know they can count and trust me not to rip them off. They also know that my top clients all have my personal cell, and so do most of the long haul drivers.
